WHOREHOUSE - True Living (PROMO 2004) - review CDR 2004 - selfrelease

Once there was someone who said that we don't have good thrash bands in Poland anymore. Well, this person probably hasn't heard such bands as Horroscope, Retribution or Whorehouse. Probably the only big problem concerning this genre in our country is the lack of interest from major record labels, or simply the fear of losing money releasing music that is not so popular nowadays. Let's hope that new cds from Exodus and Death Angel to name just a few will change this situation.Whorehouse is definitely not a newcomer to the scene. Their beginnings date back to the mid 90's. Since then, they regularily play concerts and release promo materials, 'True Living' being their latest. It consists of four tracks of pure Bay Area thrash in the vein of Exodus, Vio-lence and Sacred Reich, recorded in the quite popular studio owned by Dominik Burzym (he is the one who recorded Atrophia Red Sun and Retribution, among others). The sound is almost excellent - dynamic, crunchy and heavy. Just as every thrash records should be. Those four tracks take you on a journey to the time when almost everyone wore blue jeans and white sports shoes, listening to great thrash bands of the time (Defiance, Forbidden, Testament and many more). There's everything you want to hear on a thrash record - good solos, cool guitar harmonics and precise bass guitar/drum cooperation with a strong, yet melodic vocals. There's not even a moment when you feel tired of listening to their music - it just flows without any obstacles. The saddest thing is that there are only four tracks, which force you press the 'repeat' button time after time. Visit their website at www.whorehouse.prv.pl and DRINK TILL XODAS!!!!
